Where did the passion go?

Where did the passion go?

Nature plays a violent trick. Procreation is important to mother nature. For this reason she gave us strong aphrodisiacal hormones to catalyze the beginning of a relationship. These hormones are so powerful that they distort our vision. At first, everything is beautiful, the other person is perfect. Its a great feeling, a binding of souls. We gaze endlessly at the woman of our dreams, steeped in passion. Isn"t she gorgeous. Love is beautiful! People in this state become radiant, rejuvenated.

The only problem is that the feeling invariably passes. It may come back, but it passes. What happens is that many people see this as the end of a relationship. It is common to have difficulty giving continuity to love. The couple many not know how to deal with the natural conflicts of a relationship and can grow apart. In an attempt to not loose time, to  enjoy their feelings to the limit, they go too far. They spend a lot of time together, think of getting married, stick to each other, and then it"s over. In a short time, what was sweet becomes bitter. The passion is gone. The kindness opens space to irritation or indifference.

I get lots of e-mails from desperate people who feel that their love has vanished.

What can be done?

Everything that is living has movement. And since love is alive, it also moves, constantly. Love takes its own course. It"s a bit wild. One side of passion is pure fantasy. Love is nearly always combined with difficulties. There are always obstacles between you and your lover. Is there a better example of this than Shakespeare"s Romeo and Juliet? Two youth meet and fall in love, but their families are enemies and their love is totally prohibited. That"s how it is in most dramas. A beautiful encounter, passion and plenty of difficulties. That"s how a loving relationship is built. When there are no more obstacles, it"s common for the passion to disappear as well. In any case, its good to discover its ephemeral nature so that we can enjoy it without fooling ourselves.
