Plastic surgery: is it really necessary?

Plastic surgery: is it really necessary?

Women have always accepted that a male nose considered different by others can be quite aphrodisiac. `Different`, though, can mean loads of things. When we talk about noses, it could mean bigger than normal. Or perhaps upturned, broken, immense, too small... Some flaws don’t bother us at all. We even get to like them! But in some cases, it wouldn’t be too vain to get them fixed.

Car accidents, a fight in a bar, a glass window – some incidents can transform our almost perfect body parts into parts we have difficulty into accepting. There are also those birth flaws, which accompany us since we’re little. In such cases, plastic surgery can be a great ally.

Ears
When we are born, our mothers take great care of our ears so they do not bend during sleep and become the famous "floppy ears". In this case, one of the options to change your floppy destiny is a simple surgery known as otoplasty – which requires local anaesthesia, few hours of hospitalization and the basic blood tests.

Adjustments are made in the cartilage and the back of the ear. Because cartilage is rigid, the postoperative period is very painful, but the result is clearly positive. It"s no fun being Dumbo in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, although the recommended age to undergo an otoplasty is after the sweet 16 phase.

Nose
A pretty nose is charming - and that doesn’t mean it has to be perfect. Sometimes, though, getting involved into fights or suffering car accidents mean living in the company of a broken nose bone. That is when some people try a procedure called rhinoplasty – which isn’t only a aesthetical procedure. For some people, undergoing a rhinoplasty becomes compulsory if breathing is compromised by the nasal septum diversion.

Extra body fat
Liposuction has been gaining a large percentage of male preference. Remove unwanted fat through surgery is the desire of all (besides being much easier than going to the gym and get used to the slow progress). But everything must be done with approval and medical care. After all, liposuction can be very tricky if not done by professionals.

Men lose fat much easier than women and have less cellulite as well, a fact which helps delaying the possibility of a liposuction. For the majority of them, a healthy diet combined with physical exercises may be healthier than the surgery itself (I truly believe it is!).

For those who need to get rid of lots of weight, try combining both: eat healthily, practice exercises and, if that does not work after a while (or does not work as you expected it would), talk to a doctor about the possibility of a liposuction to remove the excess.

The procedure is more natural and less aggressive in men. Remember to research the pros and cons and see a doctor of your choice to take away all your doubts before making any decisions!

Silicone
Silicone isn’t only a girly option anymore. Many men have opted for the implants in search of better chest and calf definition. A strong routine of physical exercises, like weight training and aerobics, burn calories and increase muscle strength. When combined with a healthy food diet, that should be enough for the removal of the extra fat and increasing of muscles.

On the other hand, some men visit the gym daily, follow a strict diet and still cannot change that annoying imperfection. That is why some have been opting for silicone implants in the chest and calves.

Male plastic surgery is perhaps a taboo that is slowly falling apart. The intervention should be light to moderate, DO NOT EXAGGERATE!

It is really important to pick a good doctor, besides analysing procedures, possible adverse reactions and prices. Plastic surgery must be seen as a procedure which adds – and not as the magic trick we want to transform us into someone we are not.
