Here we are, among the stars
The biggest of all times, who was it for you? Considering the vast musical universe, who is your special idol? Which name do you choose to represent your taste in music?
Considering the pop stars, some idols were so important that their music is still there, still listened by younger people. We can use Whitney Houston, Cher, Tina Turner, Madonna, and Michael Jackson as examples, even though there are many other names we could insert here.
When the Jackson’s Five first started, no one could imagine that young American Michael would become a legend. The dancer, singer, actor, and producer created several music albums, taking a whole generation into madness with innumerable songs – certainly the most famous one was Thriller, song and album with the same name, acclaimed by fans and the media worldwide. He has been considered the richest artist in history by the Rolling Stones magazine.
Some of his best albums are Off the Wall, Thriller, Dangerous, Bad, and History, considered the best-sellers of all times. Some of his music hits were also in movie soundtracks, which highlighted his career even more. His songs were in movies such as Free Willy, Charlie’s Angels, and American Pie 2.
Michael Jackson’s departure didn’t stop his success from happening – on the contrary, it inspired many people who still didn’t know his work quite well. The singer has covers all around the world, a certified sign of success.
Now talking about the ladies, we couldn’t forget the most awarded female artist Whitney Houston, definitely one of the most powerful voices in the music history. Her first album was released in 1985, with millions of copies sold worldwide. Two years later, in 1987, her second album was the top of Billboard 200. Whitney was the first female artist to reach that step.
Besides being a very talented singer, she was also an actress. Her first job was in “The bodyguard”, in 1992, in which she sang the song “I will always love you” – that I bet you still know the lyrics to! She was in other movies, as well as her voice and lyrics. Her last success hit before dying was “I look to you”, released in 2009.
Talking about earlier music names, from the year 2000 we had several pop celebrities who actually know how to sing! Among them are babes Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, Shakira, Lady Gaga, and Adele – all famous, pretty, and best-sellers.
Billboard has put Adele on the top – and that was one of the facts that made her be compared to the Beatles, who kept their position for over 200 days on the list. Adele started in 2008 with “19”, for which she got a few Grammys. Her first single was “Hometown Glory”, followed by a bunch of hits in her second album, called “21”. The songs “Hello” and “All I Ask” are already played non-stop on all radio stations out there, part of her most recent album, “25”, released in 2015. This is a star who’ll have songs that’ll surely be listened by many generations to come.
Well, I could go on and on about music and their stars. We all have our personal tastes, and there are many, many singular, talented artists out there to choose from. But you know what the best thing is? In this case, you don’t need to pick one or two. You can have them all in your endless playlist – and that’s awesome!
